A FIVE-year-old Retford girl wowed the judges at a talent show and booked her place at a prestigious national dance competition – along with her brother.
Beatrice Lillie Barker continued a proud family tradition by winning a gold medal for the ‘Under six Cabaret’ at Scunthorpe’s 85th Music Festival.
Beatrice Lillie’s spirited rendition of ‘How Much Is That Doggy In The Window’ achieved 86 marks out of one hundred and she gets to keep the Maureen Silcock Trophy for one year.
Her brother, Oliver, 7, won the same trophy two years ago and went on to receive a Bassetlaw achievers award from the mayor.
Oliver and Beatrice Lillie attend Sturton-le-Steeple primary school and Retford’s Dawn Staples’ School of Dance.
Mum, Lisa Barker, said: “Beatrice was so focused and determined, I had a funny feeling she would give it her best shot.”
This year Oliver won three bronze and two silver medals. The talented brother and sister will now go through to the All England Regional Dance Finals in May 2011.
